Protecting Children is Everybody's Business

NAPCAN invites you to play your part in protecting Australia's children.

This year's campaign invites you, your family, your workplace and your community to share how you play your part in preventing child abuse and neglect by keeping all children and young people safe.

The week will be an opportunity to inspire each other through sharing thoughts, ideas and activities with organisations and communities that inform and assist parents, carers, family members - all the people who care for children.

Leading up the launch on 2nd September, the Play Your Part site will offer information and real life stories as examples of how different members of the community can play their part to prevent child abuse and neglect.

Spread the word about National Child Protection Week to your friends and your community - share with each other how your community is keeping children and young people safe.

What is national child protection week?

National Child Protection Week has been coordinated by NAPCAN, with the support of the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs since 1990.

The campaign aims to engage and educate all Australians to understand they have a part to play in keeping our children and young people safe from violence, abuse and neglect.

NAPCAN supports and promotes community-led prevention through strengthening the voice of community (in particular children and young people) in planning, research and evaluation.

In coordinating and promoting National Child Protection Week, NAPCAN sees it as a catalyst for community action that continues throughout the year.
